Who's been slacking? I've been slacking.
Last Monday we started school, and man, what a ride! Though I'm prepared for a pretty extensive workload, I'm excited for the courses I am taking. I'm taking Theory II, Aural Skills II, Vocal Literature and Pedagogy, Applied Voice, Music History, and the three choirs. Our new vocal instructor, Dr. Shellie Beeman, is a pretty cool cat. She has so much planned for all of us voice students this semester, and is ready to get us started out well. She also happened to do her doctoral dissertation on vocal health, so she is a NUT in vocal health. Maybe she can help diagnose that random pain in my throat that has persisted for a little over half of the year.
Random venting, today I got THREE tickets! THREE!!! Seeing as this is my first year on campus having a car, I wasn't educated on the fact that we each needed a parking sticker on our windshield. After school yesterday, I go outside, and see that I had a $25 parking ticket on my windshield, for parking on school property without a sticker. After that, I knew that I needed to go tomorrow (which is today) to get a sticker for my car. I go outside first thing in the morning, and I have ANOTHER ticket for $25. How am I supposed to get a parking pass when the college OneStop isn't open!? After being pissed off, I drove my car to the other outerside of campus for the day, and then went to class. After class, I go to my car, and I come to find ANOTHER PARKING TICKET! What the heck! So I go to OneStop with three parking tickets to pay it off with my debit card, and my debit card expired 4 DAYS AGO! But hey, ce'st la vi, and I probably just spelled that wrong. At least we're getting a little humor to start off the year :)
There is soooo much stuff that I have to tell, but alas, I forgot most of it.
There is so much progress in my personal collection, too. I've added another verse to "In the Rain", I've added another verse to "In the Wind", and I've revisited and almost finished a song (previously called "The Dome Home") that I haven't been able to continue since this time last year. After thinking long and hard, I did decide to scrap one of the songs that was going to be on the album. After working with "Ice Cold Eternity" time and time again, I have decided to scrap it, seeing as the story isn't as cohesive as it should beand it is also a bit too long. Subsequently, I am putting some invaluable instrumental parts that I had used in "Ice Cold Eternity", into "The Dome Home". Now, "The Dome Home", as of late, has got me excited! I'm thrilled to say that it's another song that is a story with an allusion to one of my FAVORITE tales!
