Man, I should be on this thing bi-weekly at the very least. It's been almost a month without a post! I think it's crucial for a blog to be kept updated not only for the reader(s), but for the blogger to stay somewhat disciplined in their venture.
Many things have been going on. One reason that I haven't updated in a while is because I have pretty stressed. I don't know why I'm stressed, because if the God behind me, happens to be the same God who created the universe, there is no reason why I should fret about anything. Yet, I am still human.
One thing that is happening this semester is that I am giving private lessons. One of our projects in Vocal Pedagogy, is to give vocal lesson to a student (or students), and teach them the basics of singing. It sounds simple, but it most definitely is not. What a journey it is! Although we are teaching vocal lessons, it is a much deeper experience than doing just that. You, the teacher, are releasing their voice, and helping instruct them to sing with the one muscle that holds their identity, and what they will use most throughout their life; their voice. I have come to see that I learn most when I am instructing my students. I might point out something that they should correct here and there, and then I come to realize that I should be doing correcting the same thing myself.
