The clock reads 11:59 PM. I began, at 6 PM. It was not until I began this post, that I realized that I had been on my laptop, emailing, for the past six hours. Keep in mind, the majority of these emails that I have been emailing, were not freshly written. The majority of these emails sent, were follow-up emails to venues in New York that I have not yet heard back from. But what can I say, it's nice to feel like I am taking the time, and actively booking shows. A good majority of the time spent (aside from emailing graduate teachers, amazing non-profit workers, and fellow musicians), was applying to NYU's Summer Songwriting Workshop! I found out about the Workshop a couple of months ago, and I thought that it was so cool! I thought to myself,
"Hey, why not? What is there to lose? Either you don't get accepted, or you DO, and you get to spend eight days with 20 amazing peers who share pieces of your musicianship."
I was even able to submit my application and audition materials EARLY! Today was the deadline for the Priority Application, and I sent it in this evening! Although I get doubtful and afraid at times, New York is looking up, and each day passes, it becomes less of a dream, and more of a reality.
